Supplement
Avocado/soybean unsaponifiables are plant extracts made from the oil-rich parts of avocado and soybean, and lab work suggests they calm inflammatory signals that break down cartilage in joints. People mostly look at them for osteoarthritis, and a review of placebo-controlled trials found symptoms eased, with moderate evidence behind that result. The findings came from a small body of research, about one study's worth of data on roughly 1,095 people with hip or knee osteoarthritis, so more trials would help firm things up.
