Amla

Amla, also called Indian gooseberry, is a tart fruit used in Ayurvedic tradition and rich in vitamin C and polyphenols, which act as antioxidants in the body. People with type 2 diabetes have looked to it for blood sugar, and the evidence is limited: blood glucose improved, and so did HDL cholesterol, in research involving 32 people. That is a small group, so these findings say little about how well amla works broadly.
