Fang Ji is a root from the Stephania tetrandra plant, used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, that contains tetrandrine, a compound thought to influence inflammation and calcium movement in cells. In people with rheumatoid arthritis, markers of oxidative stress went down, though the evidence is limited. That came from one small study of 25 people, and lymphocyte counts showed no clear difference.
