DIM
Diindolylmethane (DIM) is formed in the stomach from indole-3-carbinol (I3C), which comes from cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower). Modulates estrogen metabolism, shifting it toward 'protective' 2-hydroxylated metabolites. Human RCTs show favorable effects on estrogen biomarkers. However, CRITICAL CAUTION: May reduce tamoxifen efficacy in breast cancer patients. Dose-dependent effects - high doses may paradoxically increase aromatase. Often used for hormone balance, but evidence for direct testosterone or estrogen level changes is mixed.

Sulforaphane
1 shared condition · 7 outcomes
Sulforaphane is an Nrf2 activator found in cruciferous vegetables (especially broccoli sprouts). Clinical trials show promising results for autism spectrum disorder symptoms, with 34% improvement in behavior scores. Also studied for cancer prevention via phase II detoxification enzyme activation. Requires myrosinase enzyme for conversion from glucoraphanin - raw or lightly cooked preferred.

Resveratrol is a bioactive molecule found in plant sources such as grapes, peanuts, blueberries, and, famously, red wine. Resveratrol has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that benefit cardiovascular function, glycemic control, and lipid metabolism. Although it’s promoted for lifespan extension, there’s no evidence for this in humans and limited evidence in animals.
