Supplement
White mulberry is a tree whose leaves and extracts contain plant compounds that can slow tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in making the skin pigment melanin. People mostly look at it for skin pigmentation, and in one trial of 50 people with melasma, a mulberry extract oil applied to the skin improved hyperpigmentation versus placebo. The evidence is limited, resting on one small study of a topical oil rather than mulberry taken by mouth.
