King oyster is an edible mushroom that is a rich food source of ergothioneine, an antioxidant compound the body absorbs and uses to help protect cells from damage. People mostly look at it for skin health, and a small study of 77 people found skin quality improved, though the evidence is limited. Skin dryness showed no clear difference, and that finding rests on a single trial, so the evidence is very limited.
