Oregano is a culinary herb whose leaves and oil contain aromatic compounds, such as carvacrol and thymol, that plants use for their own defense. People mostly look at oregano oil for intestinal parasites, and the evidence is limited: in one study, gut parasites were reduced after emulsified oil. That study included only 13 people, so it is too small to show how well the result would hold up more broadly.
